Dismantling Nokia 3510/i & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver..

Step 1. Remove the back cover, battery and SIM card.

Step 2. Remove the front fascia starting at the base of the phone.

Step 3. The key mat is easily removed by lifting it out of the front fascia.

Step 4. Remove the six Torx T6 screws in the order shown below, and keep them in a safe place.

Step 5. To remove the screen from the main chassis, you'll need to release it from a couple of plastic clips on each side of the chassis.

Step 6. Once the screen assembly has been released from the chassis it can be removed from the phone.

Step 7. To remove the metal frame from the key guide, there are two plastic lugs that need to be released on each side. You should only need to release one side to remove the metal frame..

Step 8. Once the frame has been released from the lugs, it can simply be lifted away from the screen assembly..

Step 9. Turn the screen assembly upside down and the earpiece should simply fall out of its recess.

Step 10. The main board can now be simply lifted out of the main chassis taking care to observe anti-static procedures.

Step 11. The battery connector block and the power button can be removed quite easily using your fingers..

Step 12. The connector block at the base of the phone can usually be removed just using your fingers, but some can be a little tight, so you may need to use a plastic shim to release it.

Step 13. To remove the microphone from the connector block, simply push it out using your Torx driver.

Step 14. The loud speaker is held in place using double sided tape which usually cannot be re-used.

Step 15. As usual, the vibra motor is held in place by friction and is simply lifted out of the chassis..

Step 16. The SIM card holder can be removed as shown below.

Step 17. The release spring is held in place on both sides, and can be released using a flat bladed screwdriver.

Step 18. After releasing the two hooks, simply lift the release spring away from the chassis.

Step 19. Reassembly is a simple reversal of the above steps.
