Dismantling Nokia 3210 & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions
When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand. At the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver. Do NOT attempt to use a small Allen key or filed down screwdriver, you will only damage the screws.

Step 1. Remove the front and back Xpress-on covers and battery.

Step 2. This is the most difficult part of taking a 3210 apart. The aerial is made of a thin ceramic-type material and is very easy to damage, even for the most careful person. It is held in place by small snap-in clips on both sides of the aerial (marked in red), and can be removed by gently inserting a small flat-bladed screwdriver into one side of the phone and gently levering the aerial assembly up and away from the main body of the phone

.

Step 3. Using a Torx T6 screwdriver, remove the four screws marked in red, and keep them in a safe place.

Step 4. The rear metal housing can now be lifted from the phone. This housing also holds the vibra motor, if fitted, (notice the bump just above and to the right of the SIM card holder) which is held in place by a notch in the rubber housing surrounding the motor, which attaches directly to a metal shoulder on the housing (see photo at base of this document).

Step 5. Now that the metal housing is out of the way, you will be able to lift the bottom data/power connector block off by pulling it off the two stanchions at the base of the phone.

Step 6. The main circuit board can now be removed (taking anti-static precautions) which will leave you with the view below. The only items remaining in the chassis of the phone should now be the keyboard/screen assembly and the earphone.

Step 7. You should now have the phone disassembled. Take care when touching the main circuit board, which is prone to electrostatic damage. Also, care should be exercised handling the speaker that can be very easily damaged.

Step 8. To reassemble the phone, reverse the above steps. After reassembly, thoroughly check all features of the phone to ensure that you have not caused any damage or misfitted any parts whilst you have been inside the phone.
