Dismantling Nokia 2600 & Variants

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver..

Step 1. Protect the screen using a film or similar.

Step 2. Press the release button.

Step 3. Now remove the fascia.

Step 4. Remove the keymat by simply unclipping it.

Step 5. Remove the six Torx T6 screws in the order shown below.

Step 6. With the screws removed you can lift the screen and keyboard assembly away from the chassis.

Step 7. To remove the screen, unclip the snap at the top.

Step 8. Next, unclip the snaps next to the keypad.

Step 9. To remove the speaker, simply push it out with a screwdriver.

Step 10. Now remove the screen by pushing it out of the housing in the direction shown.

Step 11. Protect the screen using a film or similar.

Step 12. Next remove the RF shielding from the chassis.

Step 13. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to remove the base connector.

Step 14. Tweezers can again be used to remove the vibra motor.

Step 15. Release the plastic clips in the chassis.

Step 16. Now remove the aerial assembly.

Step 17. Reassembly is a simple reversal of the above steps taking extra time to ensure that everything works as it should, and that you have caused no damage whilst inside the handset.
