Dismantling Nokia 8110 & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand. At the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver. Do NOT attempt to use a small Allen key or filed down screwdriver, you will only damage the screws.

I would like to thank Andy Choong who supplied all the photographs and instructions for dismantling this handset.

Step 1. Remove the battery and SIM card. On the back of the phone you will see 6 Torx T6 screws, remove these and store them in a safe place.

Step 2. Remove the aerial and the GSM sticker. Underneath where the GSM sticker was there will be one remaining T6 screw. Remove this and keep it safe with the others.

Step 3. Remove the Slide by carefully twisting it off. Remove the two screws near the top of the PCB holding the PCB itself. Be careful not to lose the slider mechanism's contact box which is fitted near the bottom of the PCB.

Step 4. Now you can take the PCB off. The LCD screen is fastened by plastic clips along the top edge.

Step 5. This picture shows the back view of the PCB with the key mat separated from the front cover.

Step 6. To reassemble the phone, simply reverse the above steps. Check everything is fitted properly before closing the covers, especially the slider contact box.
