Dismantling Nokia 5110 & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand. At the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver. Do NOT attempt to use a small Allen key or filed down screwdriver, you will only damage the screws.

Step 1. Remove the front Xpress-on cover and battery.

Step 2. Turn the phone over, and on the back you will see four Torx T6 screws (highlighted in red). Remove these and keep them in a safe place.

Step 3. Now that the screws have been removed, turn the phone back over and simply lift away the front white shell, which also contains the ringer and earphone assembly.

Step 4. You should now be looking at a view similar to the one below. To remove the screen and keyboard assembly, unscrew the two Torx T6 screws (highlighted in red) at the very top of the phone, and following the correct anti-static procedures, lift the keyboard/screen assembly away from the back of the phone.

Step 5. To remove the main circuit board of the phone, you must release the one remaining Torx T6 screw (highlighted in red). The board will then lift straight out.

Step 6. To re-assemble the phone, simply reverse the above steps ensuring that you use the correct screws to secure the circuit boards (they are usually silver, and are significantly longer than the four black T6 screws utilized to hold the casing together. After re-assembly take as much time as you need to thoroughly test the handset to ensure that you have caused no damage, or forgotten one of the re-assembly steps.
