Dismantling Nokia 6100 & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver.

Step 1. Remove the battery cover.

Step 2. Remove the front fascia.

Step 3. Remove the six Torx T6 screws and store them safely.

Step 4. Separate the screen connector carefully as shown below.

Step 5. Separate the screen assembly from the main circuit board, but note that the key dome is glued in place.

Step 6. Remove the speaker from the chassis but take note of the position of the guidance pin for re-assembly.

Step 7. Using a clean cloth push the screen out of the shielding beginning near the speaker.

Step 8. The shielding is held in place with clips on the back. To remove it you'll need to pull sideways slightly on the chassis whilst pushing straight up on the shielding.

Step 9. The IR port cover is held to the aerial with one clip in the centre. release this with a shim or similar and the cover will be easily removed

Step 10. Remove the power button.

Step 11. Unclip the aerial using your plastic shim.

Step 12. As usual the vibra motor is friction mounted and is easily removed using tweezers.

Step 13. The microphone simply pulls out of the chassis.

Step 14. As does the charging jack.

Step 15. You may need to use two screwdrivers as levers to remove the release spring.

Step 16. Expand the chassis slightly and remove the SIM clip.

Step 17. Reassembly is a simple reversal of the above steps taking extra time to ensure that everything works as it should, and that you have caused no damage whilst inside the handset.
