Dismantling Nokia 6310, 6310i & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand. At the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver. Do NOT attempt to use a small Allen key or filed down screwdriver, you will only damage the screws.

Step 1. Remove the battery and SIM card.

Step 2. Turn the phone over, and on the back you will see four Torx T6 screws (highlighted in red). Remove these and keep them in a safe place.

Step 3. Now comes the tricky bit. the phone is still held together by several small plastic lugs which are very easily damaged if sufficient care is not taken. The easiest way to disengage these lugs is to gently but firmly squeeze the sides of the phone together whilst prising the front from the back - alternatively, a small, thin piece of plastic can be inserted into the gap between the front and back of the handset to disengage each lug.. See the pictures below for the location of all the lugs.

Step 4. You should now be looking at a view similar to the one below. The next step is to remove the aerial by unscrewing the single Torx T6 screw marked in green.

Step 5. Once the aerial has been removed, you can simply lift out the main board of the phone. Take care to observe the correct anti-static precautions as it is all too easy to damage the board's components. Also marked below are the vibra motor, the speaker assembly and the buzzer assembly.

Step 6. To re-assemble the phone, simply reverse the above steps. After re-assembly take as much time as you need to thoroughly test the handset to ensure that you have caused no damage, or forgotten one of the re-assembly steps.
