Dismantling Nokia 6510 & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver..

Step 1. Press in the back cover release button and remove the back cover by sliding it in the direction shown.

Step 2. Remove the front fascia starting at the base of the phone.

Step 3. Remove the six Torx T6 screws in the order shown below.

Step 4. The screen and keypad assembly is held in place by clips on either side of the handset. You should only need to release one of these

Step 5. With one of the clips releases, you should now be able to lift the screen and keypad assembly away from the phone

Step 6. The main circuit board is simply lifted from the chassis taking care to observe proper anti-static procedures.

Step 7. Lift the speaker out of the main chassis taking care not to cause any damage.

Step 8. If the system connector is stuck in place, you'll need to loosen it using tweezers.

Step 9. The system connector contains both the vibra motor and microphone. Both of these are simple released by pushing them out from the back

Step 10. Probably a bit obvious, but to remove the keypad, simply lift it out of the fascia.

Step 11. To remove the SIM card retainer, first open the flap, then applying a little force to slightly bend the retainer, lever it out from one end.

Step 12. Reassembly is a simple reversal of the above steps taking extra time to ensure that everything works as it should, and that you have caused no damage whilst inside the handset.
