Dismantling Nokia 6650 & Variants

Back to: Nokia Dismantle Instructions

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver..

Step 1. Protect the screen using a plastic film or similar.

Step 2. Remove the rear cover by pressing the release button (1), and then lifting the cover in the direction of (2).

Step 3. The logo on the back cover is held in place with double-sided tape. Use a plastic shim to remove it from the phone, but bear in mind you'll probably need to replace the tape when you come to reassemble the phone.

Step 4. The camera cover is held in place by two clips, and can be removed by giving it a firm push with your shim.

Step 5. Remove the four Torx T6 screws and keep them safe.

Step 6. With the screws removed, turn the phone over and you will be able to lift the fascia away.

Step 7. Protect the inside of the fascia screen cover.

Step 8. Protect the LCD screen.

Step 9. Release the screen connector carefully without bending it.

Step 10. The screen is held in place by four clips (two on each side). Release the clips on one side of the phone.

Step 11. Release the clips on the opposite side of the phone.

Step 12. With the clips released, the screen can be lifted away from the phone.

Step 13. Push the earpiece out of its guide carefully, and take note of the position of the guiding pin for reassembly.

Step 14. Remove the two Torx T6 screws in the order shown below.

Step 15. The main circuit board is held in place by two plastic clips, use your plastic shim to release these.

Step 16. With the clips released, you can simply list the main circuit board out of the chassis.

Step 17. To separate the main circuit board, insert your plastic shim and slide it in the direction shown below.

Step 18. Now separate the components.

Step 19. To remove the light guide, simply unclip it from the user interface board.

Step 20. Remove the power jack from the chassis using tweezers or the plug of a Nokia charger (making sure the charger is unplugged).

Step 21. Lift the microphone out of the chassis using tweezers.

Step 22. Use your tweezers again to remove the vibra motor.

Step 23. Turn the chassis over, and the camera module should fall out.

Step 24. The infra red window simply lifts out of the chassis.

Step 25. Remove the power button with your tweezers.

Step 26. Remove the side key mat.

Step 27. Use a slotted screwdriver as a lever to remove the aerial assembly as shown below.

Step 28. Use the same screwdriver to remove the WCDMA aerial by pressing the release clip in.

Step 29. Push out the battery cover catch using your plastic shim.

Step 30. Remove the battery lock from it's guide using your shim.

Step 31. The SIM card holder is attached with three hooks. Compress the hook shown with tweezers, and push it down.

Step 32. Now compress the next hook and press it down as well.

Step 33. Compress the final hook and press it down.

Step 34. If the SIM card holder hasn't already fallen off when you released the last clip, simply lift it away from the phone.
